Amazon Web Services
IAM to Polaris Conversion
01. About the Project
Amazon Web Services, Inc. is a subsidiary of Amazon that provides on-demand cloud computing platforms web services and APIs to individuals, companies, and governments that provide distributed computing processing capacity and software tools via AWS server farms.
I was part of a design team responsible for working together with the AWS Identity team in their goal to convert the IAM (Identity and Access Management) console to the new Polaris design framework.
Objective: Moving the IAM users, IAM roles, and IAM & Root User My Security Credentials sections. This included user details pages, user creation flows, and security credentials. We had to take special note in incorporating best-practice guidance around using long-term keys, and help find and eliminate access keys no longer in use.
While updating designs and functionality, we received user feedback and identified outstanding experience issues, as well as ensure compatibility with upcoming new feature work.
Due to confidentiality, I can’t share images of the process or final product, but I’d be happy to talk about my process in further detail.
